Many globes are made to tilt at an angle of 23ยบ to match the actual tilt of the Earth. Incidentally, it is this tilting of the Earth, relative to the sun as it orbits around it, which causes the seasons to change and give us more daylight hours at certain times of the year.
Assuming you mean earth's axis is perpendicular to the level of the orbit - there would be minimal variation of weather with the seasons. Most of the difference between summer and winter is due to axial tilt, not the (slightly varying) distance from the sun. SO CAN YOU SEE HOW IMPORTANT THE TILT IS? I did not know that the tilt of the axis is accountable for the seasons that occur during different times of the year. Earth's Tilt Is the Reason for the Seasons!.........The seasons are caused as the Earth, tilted on its axis, which travels in a loop around the Sun each year. Summer happens in the hemisphere tilted towards the Sun, and winter happens in the hemisphere tilted away from the Sun.
One big eye opener was that it is possible for snow to exist on the equator......Who would of thought that would of been possible since the equator has hot temperatures. I find that super amazing and I will pass on this knowledge to my students so they can see how interesting this world is made up and the geography behind every action.
In this class, we also looked at Atmospheric heating and cooling where we discussed the environment and adiabatic lapse rates. I understand now that altitude and temperature have an inverse relationship meaning that the opposite happen. For example when altitude increases, temperature decreases and vice versa. We calculated some of the temperature in high mountain peaks around the world and compared them to see which one had the lowest and highest temperature. I think that this topic is very important so that people can understand how temperature works at different places around the earth and at different heights as well. Temperature is also very important factor in determining the weather since some areas are hot and some are cold different weather conditions will be experienced.
Who says learning can't be fun.
